It’s hard to imagine what it was like for our Biblical heroes – such as Moses, Abraham, and Noah – who could hear God’s voice so clearly.

Wouldn’t our lives be so much more beautiful and powerful if we could actually hear God talking to us?

Well, the GREAT news is that we CAN hear God’s voice. Here’s what Christ Jesus told us …

John 10:27
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

The Miraculous Gift Of Hearing God’s Voice

Being able to hear God’s voice would provide us with immeasurable encouragement and guidance. Hearing God’s voice would reveal the paths God wishes us to take and would help provide the energy and strength to walk those paths with more authority.

What Can We Do To Better Hear God’s Voice?

We can hear God through His Word! Yep. It can be that simple. The words written in the Bible are timeless AND beyond time. Read the Bible and you will literally be hearing God’s voice. Best yet, when you do this, God’s word will give you power to transform you.

1 Thessalonians 2:13
For this cause we also thank God without ceasing that when you received from us the word of the message of God, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, God’s word, which also works in you who believe.

We can hear God through teachers and preachers. Paul the Apostle told us in his letter to the Ephesians that Christ gave us pastors and teachers. Through these servants of Christ, we can directly receive God’s messages and instructions.

Ephesians 4:11
He gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds (pastors) and teachers;

Pray. Pray. Pray. To hear God’s voice, you must have a conversation with God. And that’s prayer. Pray creates space for quite listening. Pray creates a place for expectation to hear God. After all, if you’re not expecting to hear … you will never listen. If you don’t know what God’s voice sounds like, ask Him to reveal that in your prayer. Call to God. Ask God. He will answer you (Jeremiah 33:3).

Reduce the noise in your life. In the movie The Ten Commandments, God spoke in a booming voice to Moses. But to us He might speak in a quite whisper. Make time for quite walks, prayer, and meditation on God’s word. When you eliminate the excess noise, God’s voice will come through louder.

Open your heart to the Holy Spirit. Read God’s word and let it seep into your heart. When you need God’s guidance, the Holy Spirit will bring the scripture you need to mind (John 14:26). That is truly God speaking directly to you.

Remember, You Want And Need To Hear God’s Voice. Now You’ve Got A Few Tools To Help You Listen!
