Paul the Apostle suffered greatly on his mission for Christ. He writes about his suffering explaining in detail how terrible and unbearable it truly is. Paul chooses to continue on his mission, despite this suffering because he believes in faith, and Christ, who promises that the pain he faces on earth is a "light affliction," meaning it is a small price to pay for the eternal glory that he will have with God in the next life. By suffering now, he is preparing himself for his eternal glory.
