This verse is urging followers to provoke each other to love. We are easily carried away by our emotions and tend to provoke others in harmful or angry ways, which in return, makes others react in the same light, creating a spiral of sinful acts. The Lord wants us as believers to have faith in him and change that by loving each other and treating others with kindness so that they are then provoked to act the same. When others are provoked to love, they in turn carry out good deeds, making them lead a holy life.
