This verse refers to a shepherd and his sheep. These images are used to represent God and his followers. God protects all who have faith in him. He showed us this love by sending Jesus to be our shepherd. Jesus sacrificed him self and played down his life on the cross to cleanse us of our sins. God continues to protect us through our lives by giving us guidelines to live by through his teachings and sending us blessings if we choose to live away from sin.
