To abhor something is to disregard or be disgusted by something. This verse tells one to abhor evil, meaning to let go of what is evil. By clinging into good, we can help ourselves to abhor what is evil in the world. Only by doing this will one truly be able to love truly and without hypocrisy. You can not love truly is you do not hold onto good and let gp of evil completely.
