In this verse, David pleads to God, asking for his soul to be protected from the danger he is about to face. David believed his danger was coming soon, and that he would be disgraced by his aggressors, and put to shame infant of the people of Israel. In this time of worry, David looked to God, and trusted that his faith in him would "deliver him from evil."
