In this verse, David is describing what he wants God to help him pursue in life. As a faithful follower, we must put our complete trust in God, and let him lead us down the right paths of life. By allowing God to have his whole trust, David is allowing himself to be taught in the ways of the Lord, as well as guided on the correct path through his life. Only when we allow ourselves to be at the mercy of God, will we truly be able to be led down the right trail. God helps all those who put their faith in him to stay on this path and not stray to sin. His never ending love and teachings will guide us to eternal life.
