In this verse, Paul emphasis that we must live for others over ourselves. When we live for ourselves first, we become selfish, and are more likely to be caught in the cycle of sin. We must beat the evil that we face in life by overwhelming it with good. The most important and best way to do this is by putting others before us. Living for other before ourselves, and committing good acts helps us to remain on a truly Holy and rightful place in life.
