This verse describe's people of faith's relationship with God. People who are not followers have no relationship with God, and therefore cannot understand the ways of the Lord and the Holy Spirit. They choose to not live their lives in God's light and lead themselves to eternal life with God. We must as followers develop as strong as a connection possible with God as we can. We must do this with or without being recognized by others for having faith. Choosing to live with faith is not for the recognition of others, but for ourselves, and the power of strengthening our relationship with God.
