In this verse, David is describing how God gives him the strength, so that he may never be afraid. God is his protector, and is the protector of all those who choose to follow him. Having faith gives us the ability to overcome evil, and to push through hardships we are faced with in our lives. Having faith does not mean we will never be faced with evil, but rather that we have the support of the Lord to beat the evil that we are faced with. We must trust in God to protect us.
