In this verse, James is explaining why we are given trials in life. The verse tells us that we should view these trials we face as joyful, rather than upsetting. These trials help to test our faith, and are a clear indication of the strength and confidence we have in the Lord. So in that sense, we should find joy in having to face these challenges, because it will force us to put more trust in God and allow him to come into our lives even more.
