This verse describes how we as followers must cast evil out of our lives. Evil can come in many forms, either in the form of people who are not beneficial to our lives, activities we engage in that can only do us harm, or even our own bad habits and behaviors which can set us on the wrong path in life. 2 Samuel 23:6-7 represents these evils as thorns which must be destroyed. Remaining true to our faith and receiving guidance and support from God is the only way in which we can be strong enough to rid ourselves of these "thorns." We must turn to him when we come across evils such as these, and look to him to give us strength in ridding ourselves of them. God is the only being who can provide us with the wisdom and power that we need to ensure that these evils are destroyed and cast out of our lives forever.
