Worry seems to be part of the human condition.
Bills. Our health. Our jobs. Our friends and loved ones. It’s tempting to worry about all these things. According to the National Institutes of Health about 31% of adults experience anxiety disorder at some point in life. And the effects can be detrimental both mentally and physically.
Though for followers of Christ, worry is not only unproductive … but it’s also unnecessary.
As believers in Christ Jesus, we should know that time spent worrying is not what God wants for us.
Matthew 6:31
“Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’”
What God Wants Us To Know About Worry!
Scripture instructs us not to worry. In fact, the Bible commands us not to worry more than 100 times.
The Bible is very clear that God knows every hair on our heads (
Matthew 10:30-31) and that He already knows our needs before we even ask Him (
Matthew 6:8).
Isaiah 41:10
Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you.
Yes, I will help you.
Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
Why worry when God wants us to live with confidence and authority?
The Secret To Eliminating Worry From Our Lives --
Trust In Messiah Jesus And In God’s Promises!
We should be able to live worry free for very powerful reasons – our relationship with Christ and God’s promises to us conveyed through scripture.
Matthew 6:34
“Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.”
Why do we have such a hard time obeying God’s word by saying no to excessive worry. Usually, it’s because we rely on our limited minds to make sense of what is happening. Our lack of faith and human brains are not able to comprehend the beautiful master plan that God has for His creation.
Proverbs 3:5
Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding.
As the above scripture instructs, when we lean on our own understanding, we eliminate the possibility of connecting to God’s greater purpose. Faith in God allows God to change us according to His purpose instead of expecting God to change for our needs.
A Most Important Point In Trusting God
And Saying Goodbye To Worry
Eliminating worry and stress from our lives is about living a Christ-centered life. If we put ourselves first, we simply can’t put God first.
Matthew 6:33
“But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.”
So, go ahead and put worry in its place. By putting Christ first and trusting God’s promises, we can more joyfully and
peacefully live for today and not worry about tomorrow.
