Matthew 7:7-8 -- "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

Have Faith In A Promise That Promises So Much!

This promise that Jesus issued while preaching the Sermon on the Mount – that if you ask, you shall receive – should fill all Christians with immense hope. It is unmeasurably comforting to know that our efforts as Christians will not be in vain.

But for what are we supposed to be asking, seeking, and knocking?

The gospel of Matthew (6:33) says, "But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

We’re supposed to be asking for a closer walk with God … seeking to become more Christlike … and knocking for wisdom and opportunities to do His will. And in return we will receive the most beautiful gifts imaginable …

-Spiritual Understanding
-Closeness with God and Christlikeness
-Unimaginable Joy and Fulfillment
-Salvation

How Can We Ask, Seek, And Knock?

Prayer allows us to ask by joining in conversation with God. We can ask God how we can best do His will. How can we can approach a situation in the most Christlike manner. Prayer gives us the opportunity to receive.

Worship gives us the opportunity to seek our Lord Jesus. It provides us with the means to draw closer to our savior. Worship provides the means to achieve a greater understanding of God’s greatness and glory.

Study God’s word. When we study scripture, we are asking, seeking, and knocking all at once. Studying God’s word gives the Holy Spirit the opportunity to work on our hearts … answer our questions … provide what we’re seeking … and open the necessary doors for us.

You Know The Saying: “If It Were Easy, Everyone Would Do It.”

The act of asking, seeking, and knocking takes dedication, discipline, and passion. It’s not a one-time deal. It demands the desire to do continued spiritual work.

Jeremiah 29:13 -- "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."
